In a press conference for American Idol’s Top 2 finalists held yesterday, Phillip Phillips shared a few updates on the status of his ongoing health concerns.

Phillip, who’s reportedly in desperate need of surgical treatment for severe kidney problems, explained that these complications have been “going on ever since the show started. Nothing’s really changed. Some days it’s good. Some days aren’t.”

He said he does intend to continue through this week’s finale and give it his all, despite the complication. Season 11 co-contestant Colton Dixon previously stated that while P2 is “definitely hurting,” he “never lets you know about it.”

Phillip also addressed certain rumors that his family doctor observed his condition and said that he did not want him to finish the show. “No, no, no,” said the 20-year-old singer. “You can’t believe everything.”

What a relief! Phillip is still expected to undergo surgery soon after the Idol finale.
