American Idol Season 11 now has its final 13 contestants. While there were few surprises in the top 10 selected by American audiences, the wildcard round left the judges with some difficult decisions — and ended in three surprising choices.

Jennifer Lopez elected to save the sweet-and-oh-so-sensitive Jeremy Rosado, a 19-year-old kid from Florida. Randy Jackson saved blonde Rhode Island songstress Erika Van Pelt, who performed a lively and ambitious cover of Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory” earlier in the evening. Steven Tyler chose fellow longhaired crooner Deandre Brackensick just after his version of “Georgia On My Mind” brought the studio audience to its feet.
