Where: Pasadena Civic Auditorium (which, as the name suggests, is actually in Pasadena, not Hollywood)
When: Filming took place the week of December 11, 2011, but Hollywood Week will air in three rounds on February 8, 9, and 15

What: This week marks the group auditions where contestants pair up and sing together. These are the grueling days where strangers have to gel quickly and learn new songs. As you might recall from past seasons, there are often squabbles, forgotten lyrics, and utter exhaustion.
Why: This week whittles the contestants down to a manageable number, who then continue on to Las Vegas.
