Queen week was arguably the most divisive theme on this season of American Idol. Many of the remaining six contestants struggled with the material, and combined with their personal song choices, it made predicting who would fall into the Bottom 3 extremely difficult.

But after 58 million votes, Elise Testone was sent packing. Her performance last night of Queen’s “I Want It All” seemed to please the judges, but her decision to sing Jimi Hendrix’s “Bold As Love” caused disagreement among the three. Steven Tyler told Elise, “You gotta pick songs people know,” while Jennifer Lopez praised the tune as being suited to her strengths.

Before the results were announced, mentor Jimmy Iovine (who we’re beginning to think is clairvoyant) noted that Elise was “a good singer who made bad choices.” Whether or not you agree, Elise made a final good call before leaving: She spent her last moments on the Idol stage singing her raucous version of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love,” her signature song of the competition.

We’ll sure miss the gravelly goodness of Elise’s soulful voice!
