Season 11 contestant DeAndre Brackensick is not one of the Lucky 7 left in the running to become the next American Idol. The wildcard pick was a favorite of Jennifer Lopez, but in the end voters still sent him packing.

The judges loved his Top 8 performance of DeBarge’s “I Like it,” but mentor Jimmy Iovine wasn’t nearly as impressed. He correctly predicted that the 17-year-old singer would be in the Bottom 3, which also included Hollie Cavanagh and Elise Testone. When it was narrowed down to Elise and DeAndre, Ryan Seacrest announced that it was the Hawaiian native who needed to sing for his life. Per usual, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler outvoted Jennifer, opting to keep their save for later use.

We’ll miss seeing him bop around the stage, flinging around his long mane. Good luck, DeAndre!
