It’s hard to believe the American Idol finale is less than a week away! After some great performances last night, it finally came time to decide which two contestants to send to the Top 2 next week. With no clear-cut frontrunners, 90 million voters finally determined that Joshua Ledet would be going home tonight.
Pigeonholed early on as a gospel and soul singer, Joshua proved over the past several weeks that he could be a genre-hopping chameleon. He rocked out during Queen week with “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” and he proved that he could tackle modern fare like Bruno Mars’ “Runaway Baby.” Above all, it was his masterful stage presence that really brought things home. Whenever he’d remove his blazer halfway through a song, you knew things were about to get real.
His performances last night were classically Joshua, the standout being his rendition of Mary J. Blige’s “No More Drama.” If anything, he handled his exit from Idol with grace, leaving the audience with his fierce version of James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World.”
You’ll truly be missed, Joshua!
