After gracing the Stools of Shame for only her third time the entire competition, Skylar Laine was forced to say farewell to American Idol after receiving the fewest votes. Consistently praised for her fiery stage presence and enthusiastic personality, it was somewhat of a shock to see the show’s only country music aficionado sent home.

Last night, Skylar took on two classic songs from Creedence Clearwater Revival (the raucous “Fortunate Son”) and Dusty Springfield (“You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me”) with gusto, receiving glowing remarks from the judges. But their words were apparently not enough to save the twangy 18-year-old singer.

With only four singers left, it’s getting tougher each week to pick our favorites!
