Song choices are everything for American Idol contestants. Last night, we saw Eben Franckewitz falter a bit while singing Adele’s angsty ballad “Set Fire to the Rain,” while Joshua Ledet brought judges to their feet with Jennifer Hudson’s “You Pulled Me Through.” The girl semifinalists are on the chopping block tonight, and, just like the boys, there’s a big range of vocal styles in this group.
The Idol Pad has the scoop on what some of the girls will be singing tonight in front of the judges, and it’s an eclectic mix of song choices — including a heavy dose of ‘80s tunes. Brielle Von Hugel will perform “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” by Otis Redding. Country crooner Chelsea Sorrell will sing a song by Idol Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood. Erika Van Pelt will belt “What About Love” by ‘80s sister super group Heart. Oregon sweetheart Haley Johnson will sing “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” by The Eurythmics. Hollie Cavanagh will perform “Reflection” by Christina Aguilera.
In a shocking move, producers are having Elise Testone and Jen Hirsh sing the same Adele song. Wonder which one it is? Tune in tonight at 8/7c to find out!
