The finale of American Idol is positively jam-packed with musical legends and talented guest stars.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, tonight’s show will include tribute performances for Donna Summer and Robin Gibb, who both passed away last week. The women of Season 11 will honor the famed disco queen with the help of Gloria Gaynor, Thelma Houston, Gladys Knight, Nelly Furtado, Sheila E., and Jennifer Holliday. Similarly, the male contingent will take on songs from the Bee Gees catalog.
Idol viewers will also be treated to a duet by Jessica Sanchez and Kristin Chenoweth, as well as Phillip Phillips performing with John Fogerty. Others joining the finalists to perform on the season send-off include Chaka Khan, Reba McEntire (performing with Skylar Laine), Fantasia Barrino (dueting with Joshua “Mantasia” Ledet), Jordin Sparks (singing with Hollie Cavanagh), and Neil Diamond.
Rihanna and Aerosmith, as previously announced, will take the Idol stage tonight as well. Judge Jennifer Lopez will also be salsa dancing with Puerto Rican superstars Wisin and Yandel.
And to think, we were worried how the producers were going to fill this two-hour finale!
