American Idol fans know that the night doesn’t quite end for the contestants right when they leave the stage. After yesterday’s performances, Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips each spilled the beans on their hopes for the finale next week.
Jessica spoke excitedly about her return to San Diego, calling the trip fun but draining at the same time. “It’s just uplifting, like I’m not just doing this for myself but i’m doing this for them too,” said the 16-year-old contestant of being surrounded by the support of her hometown.
As for her expectations for the finale, Jessica had a zen approach to her outlook. “Whoever makes it makes it,” she said of her co-contestants. “It’s anybody’s game right now.”

We even got some serious Joshua fanboy vibes from Phillip! When asked if he had anything up his sleeve prepared if he makes it to the finale, P2 said, “I wish I had a secret weapon voice like Josh’s, but I don’t.” Don’t worry, Phil. You’ve got plenty of other good qualities going for you!
