Talk about a trooper! Phillip Phillips played through the pain on American Idol, and he still isn’t fully healed. But in a recent interview with Mix 104.1, the Season 11 winner revealed that he still hopes to have surgery for his kidney stones soon. Though he was originally supposed to have the operation after the show ended, the procedure was postponed.

“I’m surviving, I’m still alive right now,” said Phillips. “I’m hurting a little bit and everything, but I’m hopefully getting my surgery done really, really soon.” The Idol tour kicks off July 6 in Detroit, and Phillip expects to be ready for it, no matter what.

He also said his album should drop in November. Hopefully the rest of the songs will be as amazing as his first single, “Home,” which we still can’t get out of our heads.
