Every time Phillip Phillips has taken the stage to perform on American Idol lately, we’ve been simultaneously delighted by his musical prowess and worried over the pain we know him to be in.

Phillip’s been enduring some serious ouch-ness with ongoing kidney stone problems that he’s faced, he said, since the show began.

According to E! Online, his much-needed surgical intervention is coming very soon. The singer scheduled the procedure to be done back home in Georgia following his publicity duties from tonight’s American Idol finale.

That’ll include a press tour in New York City, whether he wins or loses tonight. After that, Phillip will finally be able to get the medical treatment he needs. Depending on his recovery time, it’s been rumored that he may miss the first few shows of this summer’s American Idol Season 11 tour.

However, at last night’s American Idol red carpet, Phillip said “No, no, no” when asked if he was afraid he’d miss any of the tour dates. “I am excited for the tour,” he said.

We know it’s premature, but we’re wishing you a speedy recovery, P2!
