While the guys seemed to shine during the group performances during the American Idol 2013 Hollywood Week rounds, the girls were, in a word, abysmal -- at least for the most part. Most of them botched the lyrics despite having them written on their hands, and even the decent performances certainly didn’t blow anyone’s mind. So we were starting to lose hope that a woman would ever take the American Idol winner's crown again...until last night. For the love of all things holy, those girls can sang!

Bear with us, as there is no way we could have just chosen one performance this week. Some of our best picks from the girls were...

Zoanette Johnson -- “Shhh...” the eccentric diva said. “I made it up on stage.” While the judges have loved this girl from moment one, we’ve been a bit more hesitant to see the appeal. Her initial audition of “The National Anthem” was horrifying. But now we get it, especially after last night. She was riveting. She was talented. She was out there. And she won us over big time. Her made-up tune, entitled on the fly to be something like “Ba Da Bading,” was based on a beat that came to her while she was sitting in the audience. She somehow managed to convey her musical vision to the band, and they picked up the beat as she sang whatever came into her head (about pooh snaps and Nicki Minaj) and played the drums. It sounds like a nightmare, but it was pretty awesome.

Melinda Ademi -- After a string of depressing ballads that seemed to really irritate Randy Jackson, this Yonkers native infused energy into the room with her performance of Jessie J’s “Price Tag.” She owned the stage and got the audience dancing (even Ryan Seacrest). When she was done, Keith Urban excitedly exclaimed “Yeehaw,” telling her he loved her light and energy.

Kree Harrison -- Despite a few missteps during Hollywood Week, Kree won back the judges and then some with her moving rendition of “Stars”. Between her performance on stage and Nick Boddington’s version of the song at the piano, we’re hoping for a duet between these two later in the season. Nicki said of Kree, “That’s the voice.”

Candice Glover -- After getting cut last year, this girl seems to be on a mission. As she even said before her amazing rendition of “Girl On Fire,” “It feels like this is the year.” After watching that performance, we think she could be right.

Okay, so if we HAD to pick one, we’d have to go with Angela Miller -- Oh, did we mention that we already predicted she would win it all? You might be on board with our prediction after watching her stirring performance at the piano of an original song called “You Set Me Free.” (Listen to the full version of the song here.)  The judges gave her a rousing standing ovation. Keith had a tear in his eye, and so did booted contestant Stephanie Schimel from the audience. After watching that performance, we’re sticking with our prediction.

And for the worst performance of the week, we really only have one pick...

The “Almost Famous” group, featuring Savannah Votion, Daysia, Hall, and Liz Weiss. Not only was the entire performance of “Somebody That I Used to Know” a hot mess of off-key harmonies and botched lyrics, but Savannah had to have had the most shameful exit in Idol’s history. So much for coming back next year, Savannah.
