His time on American Idol 2013 has been brief so far, but Curtis Finch Jr. has already received glowing praise from judge Mariah Carey and even Idol alum Adam Lambert, who tweeted about the Season 12 hopeful.
“That’s one thing I’ll never get used to,” Curtis told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch of the attention. “Mariah saying ‘I was waiting on you all day,’ who does that? It’s amazing that someone who has sold millions of albums to say that to someone who doesn’t even have a single yet.”
He’s made it to the American Idol 2013 Top 40, and this week will determine whether he’ll stick around to be in the Top 20. This is the furthest that the three-time auditioner has made it on Idol, and he credits God with helping him grow as a singer.
“This year I have a bit more personality, my faith foundation is stronger and I have the wisdom to know regardless of how complacent some may view me to be, no matter what, I am me,” said Curtis, whose strength is in gospel music.

Whatever happens during the Las Vegas round, Curtis is confident about the image he’s portraying to viewers and fans across the country.

“It’s a  TV show, I’m here to deliver strong vocals and demonstrate a great mindset about who God is and show America that anything is possible.
