Ever wanted to be able to vote for your American Idol favorites a huge amount of times all at once? 2013 seems to be the year of change and, if you consider yourself an Idol superfan, you’re going to love this latest installment.
Beginning tonight, fans will have the opportunity to “SuperVote” online for their favorite hopefuls. You can do this using what FOX calls their new “patent-pending voting experience within the AT & T AMERICAN IDOL VOTE.”
Two years ago, the show introduced an online voting window but, with “SuperVote,” fans can cast all 50 votes at once. This can be done via americanidol.com, the American Idol mobile app (data and message rates may apply), and Facebook. You must have a Facebook account to cast votes online.
What’s really interesting is you can use these 50 votes for all one contestant or for multiple contestants, and you can adjust vote selections as performances happen in real time. Once the voting window opens, you can submit your final votes all at once.
Fans can still vote during the voting window using the toll-free lines and text-messaging for AT&T wireless customers.
This is a fun addition to the AT&T Idol Fan Meter that was implemented during last week’s shows. This allowed viewers to agree or disagree with the judges in real time using the hashtags #idolagree and #idoldisagree. The results were then show almost instantaneously.
While the American Idol judges retained a bit more control during the early season by naming the Top 20, the show is now handing over the reigns to the viewers by giving them the opportunity to interact as the show happens.
