Despite the high drama of last night’s results show on American Idol, the ratings were pretty abysmal. Then again, it was a pretty lackluster night for ratings across the board. CBS won the night in ratings for adults 18-49, although the network did earn a season-tying low for its usually high-rated show, The Big Bang Theory.
Here is how the ratings looked for each network for the most highly revered age group, adults 18-49:
CBS: 3.1 rating/9 share; 13.371 million viewers*
FOX: 2.5 rating/7 share; 8.544 million viewers
ABC: 1.7 rating/5 share; 5.634 million viewers
NBC: 1.2 rating/4 share; 3.150 million viewers
CW: 0.8 rating/3 share; 2.015 million viewers
*The article on Zap2it.com does warn that the CBS numbers may change, as programming was pre-empted/delayed in approximately 3% of the country because of ACC and SEC conference basketball tournaments.
CBS has certainly been a thorn in FOX’s side this season. No network used to dare go up against American Idol 2013, especially their finale episode, but CBS just announced they will put their finale of The Big Bang Theory up against Idol’s finale. Has American Idol become a non-issue when it comes to ratings?
