American Idol 2013 Spoiler: Son of Season 1’s Nikki McKibbin Reportedly Auditions For Season 12

Those of us who have been watching American Idol since its inception 10 years ago likely remember the distinctive and smoky voice of 3rd place finisher Nikki McKibbin.

In what can only be considered the circle of life (or at least the circle of Idol), The Idol Pad reports that McKibbin’s son, 15-year-old Tristen Langley, auditioned for Season 12 of the reality singing competition.

While it isn’t known whether McKibbin’s son made it past the initial round, you’ll really get a blast from the past by watching this video. After Nikki sang Naked Eyes’ “Always Something There To Remind Me,” little 4-year-old Tristen walked onstage and brought his mama flowers. Pretty adorbs, no?

The video cuts off just as Randy Jackson gets to his critique and, if we know anything about The Dawg by this point, starting it off with “Nikki, Nikki, Nikki” probably wasn’t a good thing.

The writing was likely on the wall at that point (we’re looking at you, Kelly Clarkson), but we’ll be keeping an eye out for a McKibbin resurgence in Season 12!
