This week, the American Idol 2013 hopefuls head to Hollywood. Between the chaos of group performances, the lack of sleep, and tensions mounting, there is never a shortage of drama. As executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has explained, this will be the first year they are splitting the groups into guys and girls in order to put more focus on the singers. It will be interesting to see how that pans out for us viewers.

Some of the great performers we’ve seen during auditions, like Adam Sanders and Briana Oakley, don’t make it into the Top 40, according to our American Idol spoilers list. Some can take the heat of Hollywood Week, while others inevitably succumb to the pressure. Adam reportedly sings Celine Dion’s “Taking Chances.” As we all know from Idol history, the judges don’t seem to react well when hopefuls take on the big divas like Celine, so perhaps this was his demise.

But some of the contestants were born to shine during this time. According to the spoilers on The Idol Pad, Chicago native Devin Velez is one of them. He reportedly gets a standing ovation from the Dawg, himself  Randy Jackson. That’s impressive when one considers he seems to have taken on the role of resident curmudgeon since Simon Cowell left the show.

Only one group reportedly gets a standing ovation from all four judges, and that is Curtis Finch, Jr.’s group. You might remember CJ from his Chicago audition, during which he bowled the judges over with his performance of “God is Able”.

Hopeful Angela Miller is apparently the only one to get a standing ovation from all four judges for her solo, which is especially inspiring considering she revealed she has hearing loss in both ears during her initial audition. If the spoilers we’ve seen are correct, she plays the piano while performing. And young hopeful Melinda Ademi, who made it to Hollywood Week last year, reportedly gets a standing ovation from Nicki Minaj.
