The race to the finish is on, as there are only six season 12 American Idol 2013 finalists left. After months of grueling schedules, jam-packed rehearsals, and endless performances, it’s easy to imagine that these folks can almost taste success.
On Wednesday’s two-hour Top 6 performance show (8 p.m.-10 p.m. ET on FOX), the singers have two themes. One is “A Song I Wish I Had Written,” while the other is rumored to be songs from the Burt Bacharach/Hal David songbook.
We will see the following six hopefuls perform:
While many of us have likely been itching for a more contemporary theme than the songs of Burt Bacharach, it’s also easy to imagine that many of these singers would do well with such a theme. So many of them have old souls, and we can see this being someone like Amber’s time to shine. The second theme is certainly vague, so the song choices are sure to be intriguing.
Thursday’s one-hour results show (8 p.m.-9 p.m. ET on FOX) is sure to be a hit, as the show’s inaugural winner, Kelly Clarkson, will return to the Idol stage once again to sing her new single, “People Like Us”. We can only hope Ryan Seacrest will be able to glean some juicy details about her upcoming wedding.
Also returning to his Idol roots will be season 10 winner and platinum-selling country artist Scotty McCreery. With Kelly’s somewhat recent foray into country music, it’d be even cooler to see these two duet. Maybe someday!
Alas, at the end of the show, we’ll know who will have nabbed a spot in the Top Five, and whose Idol journey will have come to an end. We imagine it’s (finally!) time for Lazaro to go, leaving us with an all-girl Top 5. If not, however, we can see the judges finally using their save. Oh, the drama!
What are you most looking forward to this week on American Idol?
