They say that if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Native Bahamian and talented dance instructor Mathenee Treco must have really taken this to heart, as he has now auditioned for American Idol five times (Seasons 3, 5, 9, 11, and now 12).
Check out this interview of Mathenee talking to a Y98.7 DJ in the Bahamas about the long, arduous road of auditioning for Season 11 of American Idol. It was his fourth time auditioning, and it was a complete happy accident on his part. He had flown to Aspen to help his sister move and, upon doing so, found out that the AI auditions were being held at the same time. Fate? That’s what he thought.
Although he missed making it into the Top 40, he still believed it was a positive move on his part. If you watch the whole interview, you’ll catch a lovely a capella performance of “Hey Jude,” which is the song that got him through to Hollywood Week on Season 11.

Sadly it looks like Mathenee just maybe needs to give up since he just didn't have the singing chops to make it past the Vegas rounds in Season 12.
