American Idol 2013 judge Mariah Carey is not often caught losing her calm, cool exterior, but one Season 12 hopeful actually managed to evoke tears from the pop icon with her moving audition.

Tenna Torres has idolized the normally low-key judge since she was “a scrawny 13-year-old” at Camp Mariah. She even showed off photos of the two of them meeting many years ago.

“She is my idol, without a doubt,” the Queens, New York, native told NBC Latino. “Singing for her again was a dream come true.”

So, it was only fitting that Tenna’s rendition of Carole King’s “You’ve Got a Friend” moved Mariah to tears, as the young hopeful said her hero had done the same many times to her.

“There have been so many times where I cried listening to Mariah’s music, so to have that kind of response from her was really emotional,” she told NBC. “I had to watch that moment again on TV to really relive it because it was just an incredible experience!”

Tenna, who is of Puerto Rican and African-American descent, is aiming high, and has already decided what she will do if she goes all the way on American Idol 2013.

“I want to buy my mom a house and help out my community,” going on to say she’d also love a “ridiculous” Tempur-Pedic mattress! Maybe Mariah could “spring” for one for Tenna right now.
