Will Harry Connick Jr. be joining the American Idol 2014 judges panel? Well, apparently it’s all up to him. Harry Connick Jr. has confirmed rumors he was invited to sign on for American Idol Season 13, but he still hasn’t decided yet if he’ll accept the offer.

“They wanted to know if I would be interested and it’s a blast, but I don’t know, it’s hard to make a commitment like that,” Connick said backstage at American Idol last week.

Producers have reportedly approached Harry about being a judge on American Idol before, but so far it hasn’t panned out. "The last time I was here (in 20o9), I was so flattered that they were kind of talking about it," Harry told E! News. "And it didn't work out. There were a lot of things going on on their side and a lot of things going on on my side with just stuff. It's hard to make a commitment like that."

Harry said he thinks it is “a fun show” and he “had a great time” being a mentor. As for becoming an American Idol judge, he said it’s “been talked about before, who knows what’ll happen in the future.”

If Harry Connick Jr. does sign on as one of the 2014 American Idol judges, where would that leave the rumor that producers have their eye on a ‘dream team’ of Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, P!nk, and Sean “Diddy” Combs?

Personally, we think Harry is a far more likely bet to actually happen than any of those four rumored replacements — especially since P!nk has already turned American Idol producers down once before. Plus, we’d honestly love to see Harry and Jennifer Lopez on a judging panel together, if those rumors about her returning do turn out have some truth to them...
