Watch your backs, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. The original American Idol judge Randy Jackson has implied he wants an all-male judging panel next season!
E! Online caught up with The Dawg backstage, where he chatted it up about dude power at the table. His first pick for a new judge? This week’s mentor, Harry Connick, Jr.
"[Harry would] make a great judge. He'd be amazing," Randy told E! News. "We were just talking about this. What about an all-male panel? It'd be different. Unique."
In doing the math, that would be current judge Keith Urban (if he returns), The Dawg, and Harry, leaving one more spot at the table. As for his fourth pick, he chose to make a joke...at least we think so.
"Gordon Ramsay! Why not?" he chuckles. The grumpy Brit role has a “been there, done that” feel to it. But then again, it seemed to work pretty well with Simon Cowell.
There has been a lot of talk about gender this season. Many were already calling it the season of the ladies before the show had practically begun. And of course, there is the controversial gender split, which we hope the show would do away with next season. Talent is talent!
When it comes to the judges table, we tend to feel the same. Just give us four great judges — men or women — who give straightforward critiques sans all of the drama.
Would you like to see American Idol to have an all-male or all-female judging panel?
