Sweetheart Idol finalist Jermaine Jones’ Top 13 performance went well yesterday, but the evening ended on a low note. After the show, he received a call from his father — as in, the one who abandoned him and his mother 10 years ago.

Sources tell TMZ that Jermaine was “extremely upset” by his estranged father’s attempt to renew contact. According to an insider, the man asked, “Why are you telling everyone that you haven’t got a dad?” Another friend shared that Jermaine thinks his father is a good man, but he’s “a lousy father.”

We just hope this guy isn’t trying to get close to Jermaine because of his newfound fame. That’d be plain cruel to take advantage of the Gentle Giant!
