American Idol’s Season 12 judging quartet — Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj, and Keith Urban — got their first turn handling auditions as a group this weekend in New York City just after being officially confirmed for the show by host Ryan Seacrest.

Nicki sent out a tweet calling the experience “interesting,” but a new report from TMZ indicates it was much more dramatic than that. According to their insider info, Mariah and Nicki are already having some friction at the judging table.

Mariah — who’d previously quipped “What tension?” when asked about her rumored distaste for Nicki — reportedly interrupted Nicki on several occasions as she gave feedback to the Idol hopefuls, and Nicki fired back at her by talking over her too.

“These girls just don’t like each other,” the insider reports. TMZ caught up with Nicki just after the taping in this video, and while she said it was a “great” day on-set, she took off pretty quickly.

Mariah sent out her own cryptic tweet about day one, writingseveral classic moments so far.”

Sounds like Mariah was right about that!
