In past years, the American Idol judges have had the final say in regards to which contestants advance to the top 10 and which ones are sent home. Not this year though.
Adding to the intrigue of the shake up on the judges’ panel as well as the shake up in the routine and structure of the auditions, Idol judges Randy Jackson and Keith Urban confirmed that they, along with fellow judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj were in the dark about the final selections.
"We didn’t know what was happening," confessed Jackson. "We had no visual, no anything." Fellow judge Urban added, "They just said we’re going to comment on the next person," but the judges didn’t know who the next person was until they stepped out on stage.
Urban further commented that he thought Nick Boddington had a chance of making it as well as performers Elijah Liu, Breanna Steer and Aubrey Cleland.
While Jackson did concede that there were some excellent performances in Las Vegas, he did comment, “"America got it right. I think they picked the right top 10."
So who was the first person to know who was going into the top 10? Idol host, Ryan Seacrest.
