For the second week in a row, American Idol ratings finally went up the tiniest bit. After a number of record setting lows, FOX must be heaving a miniscule sigh of relief.
Last week the American Idol ratings scooted upward ever so slightly after weeks and weeks of scraping the absolute bottom of the barrel in the show’s history. This week, the snail crawl upward continued as more viewers tuned in to get a good look at the first ever all girls American Idol Top 5.
Wednesday night’s American Idol ratings rose up 2 percent in total viewership over last week’s performance show. Idol averaged a total of 12.4 million viewers during its two hour time slot. The show earned a 3.3 rating, up from 3.2 last week, in the advertiser-coveted 18 to 49 age group, according to Variety.
CBS came in second place on Wednesday with just 7.75 million viewers and a much lower rating of 1.8 in the 18 to 49 crowd.
