American Idol ratings are nothing if not consistent this season and, sadly, they’re consistently bad.

As FOX often does on Wednesdays, American Idol ratings still managed a slight win for the night, but the outlook for the American Idol finale is still fairly bleak.

Where other networks used to shy away from pitting their shows against American
Idol, it’s now a non-issue. In fact, last night’s episode of Survivor: Caramoan tied American Idol for the first time among young viewers in their shared hour. The Voice 2013 also went up against American Idol head to head for the first time ever with live shows, but didn't quite manage to catch the older reality singing competition.

In the ideal advertising demographic of young adults 18-49, FOX averaged a 2.8 rating and 10.83 million viewers, winning the night overall. CBS came in second with a 2.4 rating in that category and  9.66 million viewers, with NBC following closely behind with a 2.1 rating and 7.53 million viewers. Surprisingly, ABC came in 4th in adults 18-49 with a 1.9 rating and 6.13 million viewers, and CW came in last with a 0.9 rating and 2.34 million viewers.

With the American Idol ratings reaching an all-time low week after week all season, it’s no wonder the show’s producers are supposedly looking to do a major revamp for American Idol 2014. They’ve even been rumored to have approached a dream team of judges that includes Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, P!nk, and Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Do you think a new judges panel would help American Idol ratings?
