Our 2013 American Idol recaps continue this evening with the Top 8 finalists performing the ‘Music of Motor City’ for America’s votes. The American Idol judges will be weighing in on their ‘Motown’ performances, but it will be the viewers deciding who will be voted off this week. Join us for our American Idol recap and watch what happens with us in our live blog tonight!
The music of Motown has been one of the most tried and true American Idol song themes since the show first launched 12 season ago. Some might say it has been used perhaps too many times, but the producers seem to love it so much, they just can’t let go. We love Motown music, but every season it feels like we are watching the same American Idol performances over and over with the same songs being chosen to represent Motown every year.
Unfortunately, we are sad to report this year doesn’t look much different as our American Idol spoilers for the song choices tonight are mostly repeats we’ve seen before on previous seasons — some of them many times over.
Here is the breakdown of who is reportedly singing what tonight on American Idol Season 12:
Amber Holcomb – “Lately” by Stevie Wonder
Angie Miller – “Shop Around” by The Miracles w/ Smokey Robinson
Burnell Taylor – “My Cherie Amour” by Stevie Wonder
Candice Glover – “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” by Marvin Gaye
Devin Velez – TBD
Janelle Arthur (on guitar) – “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” by The Supremes
Kree Harrison – “Don’t Play That Song (You Lied)” by Ben E. King/Aretha Franklin
Lazaro Arbos – “For Once In My Life” by Stevie Wonder
