Now that our hearts have stopped pounding (these result shows are seriously stressful), let us fill you in on the contestants who made it through to American Idol’s Top 13. (That’s right — Top 13: Five guys and five girls were put through, plus three wild card picks chosen by the judges.)

Dim the lights! The lucky 13 are… (long pause, Ryan Seacrest style):

Karen Rodriguez
Pia Toscano
Lauren Alaina
Thia Megia
Haley Reinhart
Scotty McCreery
Jacob Lusk
Casey Abrams
Paul McDonald
James Durbin
Naima Adedapo
Stefano Langone
Ashthon Jones

In case you’re wondering how these lucky guys and gals made it through, here’s how it all went down: After America’s votes, favorites like Pia, Casey, Scotty, and Lauren sailed right through (was there ever any doubt?). But it would have been buh-bye for Stefano, Naima, and Ashthon if the judges didn’t give them the three remaining wild card spots.

Randy, Jennifer, and Steven could only choose six singers to compete in the wild card round, where each contestant sang one more song to prove that they have what it takes. Despite strong performances by the other chosen singers — Robbie Rosen, Kendra Campbell, and Jovany Barreto — the judges decided to go with Stefano, Naima, and Ashthon. (Poor Robbie! We really liked that kid.)

Ah, well. At least the wild card picks really deserved their spots. Stefano gave us goosebumps with his performance of “I Need You Now.” Naima’s emotional take on “For All We Know” almost moved us to tears. And Ashthon brought her diva-tude to a strong performance of “I am Telling You.”

Oh, and what about contestants like Brett Loewenstern, Jerome Bell, and Clint Jun Gamboa? Poor things didn’t even get the opportunity to sing for the judges. It’s back to their everyday lives…

So who do you think should have made it through? Any who you think shouldn’t still be in the competition? Tell us in the comments below!
