The American Idol 2013 finale is only a month away and soon we'll be crowning a new American Idol winner. But what will they be singing as their coronation song?
Everyone remembers Kelly Clarkson’s coronation song, “A Moment Like This,” with much fondness. Fantasia Barrino brought down the house with “I Believe.” And Phillip Phillips has gone triple platinum with his coronation single, “Home.”
There’s no denying, however, that other American Idol coronation songs have been a complete disaster (Jordin Sparks’ “This Is My Now” comes to mind, especially when Blake Lewis had to sing it!). That’s why we love the new American Idol spoilers leak we just came across about this year’s coronation song.
According to The Idol Pad, the American Idol Season 12 finalists have been secretly co-writing songs with established artists over these past few weeks, and the coronation song will be the winner’s own song. The Top 5 will also be singing their co-written songs on this summer’s American Idols LIVE! Tour.
As we revealed earlier, this is all in an effort to get the American Idol winner to produce an album within mere weeks of winning, as opposed to months going by like seasons past. It’s a controversial move to be sure, as striking while the iron is hot is one thing, but a rushed album can also lead to regrets on the part of the singer.
So who are some of these lucky hopefuls collaborating with on their songs? According to The Idol Pad, country songwriter Monty Powell’s help has been enlisted. Also, Candice Glover tweeted back in March that she got to work with revered songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk, who co-wrote Kelly Clarkson’s smash hit, “Walk Away,” as well as David Cook’s “Permanent.”
What do you think of these rumored changes on American Idol 2013?
