On American Idol last night, the Season 12 Top 7 finalists performed song selections from the theme "Classic Rock, No Ballads" with varying degrees of success. Overall the night was bland for the most part, with moments of enjoyable ups and a few seriously sour notes.
The evening was a win for the ladies once again, with Candice Glover and Amber Holcomb especially hitting it out of the park. Angie Miller had a bit of a weak performance with her more modern rock song, but the wind machine making her look all kinds of fierce made up for the slightly strained performance a bit. Kree Harrison was, well, Kree. It's just hard to say anything bad about her any time she takes the stage.
The guys did not have a good night, however. Lazaro Arbos sang Queen not once, but TWICE on American Idol 2013 last night. Once was too many times, twice was purely torture and we can only think the late, great Freddie Mercury would not have been very pleased. Burnell Taylor wasn't as bad as all that, but he was obviously uncomfortable with the whole rock 'n' roll vibe going on. His performance was certainly one of his weakest all season.
