When American Idol winner and country superstar Carrie Underwood came out in support of gay marriage last June, some of her more conservative fans weren’t wild about her comments.

In the February 2013 issue of Allure, the American Idol Season 4 champ explained that as a married person (her husband being hockey player Mike Fisher), she couldn’t fathom what it would be like to be told she couldn’t marry the one she loves.

“I’m in favor of acceptance,” Carrie said. “It’s my place to love and to show God’s love to other people, even if they don’t live a life like I live. So that’s where I’m coming from.”

The country queen previously said she doesn’t like discussing controversial topics, but we have to give her props for sticking to her guns whether you agree or not!
