If you haven’t gotten caught under a heavy piece of furniture today, you know that it was President Obama’s Inauguration Day. And inaugural American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson lent her amazing vocals to the beautiful (yet chilly!) celebration.

Kelly sang a rendition of “My Country ‘Tis Of Thee” that proves she doesn’t need a fancy studio setup to be simply amazing, as “pure” doesn’t begin to describe how beautiful she sounds. Even the POTUS, himself, seemed captivated by the performance.

Always the prankster, Kelly took to Twitter after her performance, joking, “Wow...I was incredibly nervous and cold ha! I just wanna officially thank President Obama for opening for me haha! Just kidding :)”

American Idol winner Kelly filled some rather large shoes, as the last person to sing that song at President Obama’s initial Inauguration Ceremony was none other than the legendary Aretha Franklin. Speaking of legendary, the hat that Aretha wore will also go down in history...for better or for worse.
