All black everything! Glambert looks sultry on the black carpet.
Last November, American Idol alum Adam Lambert sang with Queen’s original members Brian May and Roger Taylor in Belfast, and they must’ve enjoyed his performance as much as many of the fans did: According to The Daily Star, Lambert will be joining the band, which is reforming. Queen’s original lead singer, Freddie Mercury, died in 1991.
“After the EMAs, I heard faint little slithers of a backlash from people saying: ‘You can’t replace Freddie Mercury.’ But I already knew that. There’s no intention in my mind of replacing Freddie. That’s impossible,’ Lambert told The Daily Star. Despite the Lambert is stoked to be following in his idol’s footsteps: “Being asked to front Queen is the best thing that can possibly happen,” raved Lambert.
There’s no word yet whether Queen will record a new album with the American Idol runner-up — or whether he’ll be suiting up in one of Mercury’s trademark jumpsuits. We’re sure the singer, who’s been known to sport some outrageous ensembles, wouldn’t object.
This isn’t the first time Queen has reunited — singer Paul Rogers took over in 2005. The new Queen — with Lambert on vocals — will headline the Sonisphere Festival this summer. May we request they reprise “We Are the Champions”? The band sang it with Lambert and Kris Allen during the 2009 Idol finale.
