The next time you take public transportation, keep your eyes peeled for a certain once-ubiquitous reality star.
Infamous American Idol Season 6 contestant Sanjaya Malakar was spotted singing for change in an NYC subway station recently, according to In Touch.
The 23-year-old — who was known especially for his wild hairdo on the show — has still been sporting some long locks as he sings in the subway, accompanied by a guy on guitar.
A photo of Sanjaya singing in the subway can be seen here.
“He was singing ‘(Sittin’ on) the Dock of the Bay,’” says an eyewitness about his subway platform appearance.
“A handful of people did double takes,” adds the souree. “The guy’s still a decent singer!”
Sanjaya finished in seventh place on American Idol back in 2007. Shortly thereafter, Sanjaya was a guest at the White House and appeared on The Tonight Show.
Since then, he was on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here and has appeared in an off-Broadway show. According to Wikipedia, he is now bartending in Queens.
We're glad to see Sanjaya is still pursuing his dream, even if he's not quite performing in front of the type of crowds that he'd probably prefer.
