Remember when we told you about American Idol finalist Jacob Lusk being reportedly arrested right around the time of his audition? Well, there’s even more to the story. Apparently Jacob came very close to having his Idol dreams dashed because of this situation, but he threw himself on the mercy of the court and was given a break.

According to E!Online, Jacob was given two years of probation just prior to his Idol audition. Jacob had reportedly received a citation for riding on a Metro train without buying a ticket, and when he didn’t appear for his court date, a warrant was made for his arrest. E! says he did appear in court and was made to pay a fine and given two years’ probation. But Jacob knew that Idol producers would never let him on the show if he was on probation, so he begged the court to suspend it, and they complied. This all happened the day before he auditioned!

We’re so glad this was all cleared up… American Idol needs you, Jacob!
