Bon Jovi on American Idol 2013? We'd pay to see that! Oh, wait, we don't have to because we can tune in for free!
New Jersey’s best (no, not the cast of Jersey Shore) hits the stage tonight for the American Idol Top 9 results show. They're take a break before heading out on tour in support of their new album, What About Now, to perform the lead single “Because We Can”. The album dropped Tuesday and Bon Jovi began touring on Wednesday.
A St. Louis FOX reporter caught up with the iconic band backstage at their show in St. Louis, where Lead Guitarist Richie Sambora talked about his appreciation for American Idol.
“I love Idol. Idol is a show that actually really brings quality talent to the world. Right now, it’s a star-maker.”
It’s a great PR move for the band to hit the Idol stage, as many before them have used the show’s mass appeal to catapult their careers and/or upcoming albums. Even the judges benefit immensely from their Idol exposure, as Mariah Carey will likely soon realize when she releases her upcoming, highly-anticipated CD.
The band is paying it forward these days, as they are giving local college kids a learning opportunity and behind-the-scene access on their “Because We Can” tour. Pretty cool, eh?
These kids are learning from the best. The Grammy Award-winning band has sold more than 130 million albums worldwide and has also performed more than 2,700 concerts in 50 countries for over 35 million fans. One word: WOW.
