American Idol 2013 judge Keith Urban called Burnell Taylor “magnetic” after his Top 10 performance last week. There is just something about Burnell that draws you in every time he takes to the stage. The American Idol Season 12 contestant hopes the judges and the voters will keep loving him just the way he is, because he has no plans on changing.
We talked to Burnell after his performance last week to find out if he has a strategy planned for moving ahead in the competition.
What did you think of the judge’s comments?
The judge’s comments were so you know overwhelming because Nicki said she could picture me as an artist, I am a true artist and you that was just so overwhelming. But I’m so thankful for all of them.
What did you think about Nicki’s late arrival?
Well I’m not sure what happened but I feel we’re all going to be late at some point in our lives and I’m not going to judge her.
You chose Ruben’s song, what lead you to that choice? Did you consider anything else before that?
One reason why I picked the song is because I always find myself singing it because it’s so inspirational and then two I just wanted to pay homage to Ruben because I feel like everyone that came before us kind of paved the way for us because if they weren’t there then there would be no American Idol. I just wanted to do something where I could pay homage to somebody.
Keeping the judge’s comments in mind, what will be your strategy going forward?
One of my strategies is just to stay true to myself. I can’t really come up with a definite strategy off the top of my head. Only time will tell.
