American Idol 2013 Top 4 finalist Candice Glover flew under the radar for awhile early on this season. Sure, she blew us away during Hollywood Week with a super stellar rendition of Alicia Keys’ “Girl On Fire” as well as other great performances, but it wasn’t until her recent performance of Adele’s “Lovesong” that she really became someone who’s in it to win it (as Randy Jackson might say)!
The powerhouse vocalist has yet to falter, and has had flawless song choices and performances, but the last few weeks she’s showed us she can sound like a more contemporary artist, too. She reworked Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up” into a super cool R&B number that could do well on the radio today. And last week’s performance of “When You Believe” by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston could easily be considered one of the top performances in Idol history.
Randy Jackson, who has been a huge Candice fan all along, said she has “one of the best voices in the known world.” And Mariah was so touched by her performance of one of her songs, she said Candice could “sing anything in front of anyone at any time,” going on to say she did Whitney Houston justice. It’s not hard to picture Candice winning it all.
