In case Candice Glover had any doubts about the "live" aspect of American Idol 2013, she's no doubt a believer now.
After performing Adele's "Lovesong" (originally written by The Cure), Candice was treated to a standing ovation by the audience and screaming cheers. In an interview with Zap2It, Candice reveals she didn't expect that audience reaction to be so positive, but even more surprising was Mariah Carey's reaction of showering Candice with a glitter bomb.
When asked about where Mariah got the glitter from, Candice replied, "I have no idea. It was just a gold box and then she gave me the box! And it was an empty box but she was like, [in a Mariah voice] "This is what I carried it in, dahling." [laughs] And I was like, oh okay! But you know if Mariah Carey throws glitter at you it must mean something good, so I was happy!"
Candice went on to discuss what it meant to receive a compliment from Randy that she'd just performed one of the best songs in American Idol history.
"Well, I was once an American Idol reject. This is my third time, and just that Randy's been here all 12 seasons and he's seen me get cut, and he's always been the one to fight for me. So for him to say out of all 12 seasons or out of any show, I'm just so appreciative that he said that and he gets me and he understands."
It's hard to imagine Candice ever being rejected in any context because clearly, she's going to be a force to be reckoned with as the show winds down toward the American Idol Season 12 finale.
