American Idol Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood has had one whirlwind career. Currently touring in support of her fourth platinum-certified album, Blown Away, the multiple Grammy-winning country gal’s come a long way from the platform Idol provided her back in 2005.
To celebrate her seven years of success, VH1 featured Carrie on this weekend’s new episode of Behind The Music and will air an Unplugged special with her tonight.
“I’ve definitely had some luck on my side, but there’s been a whole lotta hard work too,” Carrie explained. “I got my opportunity, and I took it. I think more than anything that’s what I would want people to take away from my life is that there will be God-given opportunities no matter what field you’re in. You just have to recognize them and take them.”
The special features a look back at her pre-Idol efforts to get on the stage along with her struggle to stake a claim in the country music world, her romance with hubby Mike Fisher, and much more.
Carrie even recounted the moment a burst eardrum almost cost her the Idol title. “I was just crossing my fingers just hoping I was singing on key,” she remembered.
The rest, as they say, is history, and Carrie has since earned her status as one of the biggest names in country music.
