Jennifer Lopez might have seemed on the fence yesterday about her future on American Idol, but now she’s made up her mind. Appearing on On Air With Ryan Seacrest this morning, J.Lo confirmed she will not be returning the Idol judging table for Season 12.

At this point, the Idol judging table is looking very, very lonely. Steven Tyler also announced his departure yesterday, and rumors have been swirling that Randy Jackson will reduce his role from judge to mentor.

It took Jennifer a while to get her news out, but thanks to her relationship with Ryan — the long-time host of Idol — she finally felt the need to spill.

“You know, I really was dreading this phone call with you… Of all the people I’ve spoken to, I have no problem just not saying anything to anybody, but with you… I dread a conversation like this, and you’re gonna make me cry,” she hesitantly said. “I honestly feel like the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things I love to do that I’ve kind of put on hold because I love Idol so much… I could just keep doing Idol for the rest of my life, but that would be giving up a bunch of other things… I just feel like we had an amazing run.”

J.Lo’s reluctance to make a decision, she said, came from the fact that she “fell so in love with the show, everybody there [and] didn’t know [she]’d be so moved by the show, working with the contestants.”

She did promise that this may not be the last time she’ll grace the screen for Idol, telling Ryan, “I feel like no matter what you guys need over there, I’ll always be here. I feel like if you call me and say, ‘We need you to come in for the first show’ I’ll be there … I just don’t feel like I can be there for every show.”

Sad face!
