After struggling with fertility issues for years, former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi and husband Mike McCuddy are welcoming their first child via gestational surrogate in just a few weeks, according to People.
“We are eagerly awaiting the healthy and happy birth of our son Greyson James Carroll McCuddy,” Kara said. “We’re praying for our surrogate, that she gets through this and that it’s as easy on her as it can possibly be, because she’s been a gem throughout the whole process.”
The Grammy-nominated songwriter and her husband wed in 2009, and the duo went through several failed in vitro fertilization attempts before deciding to explore adoption and surrogacy.
“We made a personal decision to try with a surrogate,” Kara said. “I’ve got two people on my mind: her and the baby.”
Congrats to the expecting couple!
