This former American Idol singer nearly quit the show due to the grueling schedule, asking herself, “What’s the point?” She’s likely glad Ryan Seacrest lured her back into the fold, as things have been nothing but bright for her since she lost out on the Idol crown.

The latest addition to her career is an impressive run on Broadway. This fan favorite Idol contestant is set to reprise the role of iconic country singer Patsy Cline in the musical Always...Patsy Cline in summer 2013. The amazing singer, who is also promoting her new album, All That For This, will begin her role during the summer production of the play in New York in August.

The play, written in 1988 by Ted Swindley, is based on a true story about a friendship that developed between Patsy and a fan in 1961, and continued until Patsy died in a plane crash in 1963. The fan will be played by Oscar and Emmy nominee Annette O’Toole.

One of the producers, Jeff Cohen, said, “[She] is the ideal performer to play Patsy Cline. In what amounts to a life-intimates-art twist, Patsy Cline was discovered on The Arthur Godfrey Show, the number one TV talent show of its day. And [she] was discovered on American Idol, the number one TV talent show today."

That is pretty cool! What other Idol alums do you think would be perfect for Broadway?
