We’ve got one word for the American Idol ratings for Thursday night’s shows in which the guys did their solo performances: “Ouch.” The Big Bang Theory is turning out to be a big pain for the usually dominant show, as it keeps clobbering American Idol in the ratings for their common half hour. Overall, the reality TV singing show fell 9% from last week’s Thursday audition show.
The long-anticipated premiere of NBC’s Community gave the network a bump in the ratings as well, with the help of Parks and Recreation. Scandal helped ABC to tie its series high with adults 18-49. CBS’ Elementary, on the other hand, didn’t get any boost from last week’s Super Bowl.
Here’s how it broke down, according to Zap2It.com:
CBS came in first with 14.2 million viewers and an 8.8 rating/14 share among households in primetime.
FOX came in surprisingly much lower, with 9.6 million viewers and a 5.7 rating/9 share.
ABC followed with 7.2 million viewers and a 4.9 rating/8 share.
NBC came in fourth with 3.2 million viewers and a 2.0 rating/3 share.
While second place among the major networks isn’t too shabby, American Idol is certainly seeing a dip in the ratings, especially when facing the hit sitcom, The Big Bang Theory.
What do you like better -- American Idol or The Big Bang Theory?
