Despite struggling with a lifelong stuttering problem, Lazaro Arbos impressed the American Idol 2013 judges with his beautiful version of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” during the audition round. But it may be his moving backstory and sweet personality that has gotten him all the way to the Top 10.
But how far did this Cuban-bred singer make it in Season 12? Well, he was one of the talented few to make it through to Las Vegas and then on to the Top 20! The judges loved his version of "Edge of Glory" during Hollywood Week and thought he had the right stuff to make the Top 10 guys. After that, he sailed smoothly right along to the Top 10 finalists for Season 12.
Things got a bit bumpier for Lazaro in the Top 10 as he kept forgetting his lyrics and going off pitch, but his fans held strong and got him all the way to the Top 6. Sadly for Lazaro, that was as far as they could take him and he was voted out of the competition. The American Idol judges could have used their one and only save of the season to rescue him, but they decided not to.
