If we’ve learned anything from the past couple of seasons of American Idol 2013, it’s that viewers may not hold the vehement passion they once did for the long-running show, but it seems to dominate in the ratings despite this fact.

Such is the case with Wednesday night’s show as the girls performed during Hollywood Week. While the online buzz seems to be that the girls left a bit to be desired, FOX still easily won the evening with 13.7 million viewers and a 7.9 rating/12 share in households. And this was true despite the fact that this was one of the smallest viewerships since its first season in 2002. We don’t know whether to say “ouch” or “congratulations.”

Behind FOX was CBS with 8.5 million viewers and a 5.4 rating/9 share, ABC with 6.8 million viewers and a 4.4 rating/7 share, and The CW, which drew 2.9 million viewers and a 1.7 rating/3 share. Surprisingly, NBC came in last with only 1.4 million viewers and a 3.7 rating/6 share. CBS had to have been most shocked by their numbers, as last night was the premiere of Survivor: Caramoan.
