With all the shows going on hiatus lately, you might be wondering: Is American Idol new tonight? Well, if you’re a fan of the show, you’re in luck! American Idol 2013 is indeed new this week with the Top 8 performance show on Wednesday and elimination results show on Thursday.
Last week we said farewell to Paul Jolley, whose performance of The Beatles’s “Eleanor Rigby” got him the boot from the Top 9 on American Idol 2013. Now that we’re down to the Top 8, who will be going home this week? You’ll have to tune in to find out, of course.
Tonight, the Season 12 Top 8 contestants will be performing songs from the Motor City (that’s Detroit, for those who don’t know), and the songbook for this week’s theme will be rich with classic Motown songs. We’re talking music from The Supremes, The Jackson Five, Four Tops, Commodores, and much more.
With last week’s theme of the Lennon/McCartney songbook proving to be a challenge for the contestants (many had never heard some of the Beatles songs they sang), we’re curious whether this week will prove to be similar. The Motown era was decade before any of these singers were born, but the music that came out of Detroit can still be heard everywhere today.
After being voted into the bottom three last week, we’re hoping Devin Velez and Amber Holcomb will step up their game. But we’re most concerned for Lazaro Arbos, who received some harsh criticisms from the judges last week. Will he live to sing another day? Watch American Idol tonight at 8 p.m. ET to see who blows it out of the water during tonight’s performances show!
