Janelle Arthur wowed the American Idol judges from moment one with her old school twang and, while Keith Urban is the obvious one to adore her (and he does), it’s actually been Nicki Minaj who has expressed the most love for her “little marshmallow.” Last week, however, Nicki took a bit of a jab at the country star, saying after her duet of “Like A Prayer” with Kree Harrison that it seemed as though Kree flew in to sing with an American Idol contestant. Ouch.
Janelle turned things around, however, during her solo performance of The Supremes’ “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” on American Idol 2013 last week. It was a tender acoustic rendition that the judges loved, with Mariah Carey even saying it was “Janelle at her finest.” She seems to getting some traction on social media as well, which goes a long way when it comes to voting. While we don’t think she’ll win this season, she’ll be here for a while. A WGWG (white girl with guitar)? We’ll take it!
